A trillion seconds is exactly how long? No way!!

A US Senator commented yesterday that a trillion dollars is a lot of money. He went on to say it's so much money that when put in the perspective of time we are in awe.

He said that if we were to go back one trillion seconds in time, it is likely dinosaurs were roaming the earth.

Sounded impossible to me. Not even close I imagined.

He was right.

These are all approximations:

There are 31.5 million seconds in a year. The math being simply- 60x60x24x365.

In a thousand years we are at 31.5 billion seconds. That sounds like a lot but there is still along way to go to get to one trillion. In fact, we are only 3% of the way to one trillion.

It takes around 32,000 years to get to one trillion seconds.
